Château de Carsac

 Dordogne, France

Lac de Gurson

Just a couple of kilometres away, the lovely Lac de Gurson has a beach and swimming area.  In the summer there is kayaking and paddle boarding.  The cafe overlooking the lake serves drinks and ice creams during the day, and good burgers, salads and steaks in the evening.

La Campagne

Cycling and walking routes thread their way between villages and vineyards in the beautiful countryside around the chateau.  Bikes are available for hire locally, with delivery and pickup included.  Just next door, Vincent the vigneron makes the excellent Reve de Ternac wine, and always welcomes visitors to taste and buy.

The chic, cosmopolitan city of Bordeaux is just an hour away. From flea markets to designer boutiques to the foodie heaven of the Marché du Capucins, there's shopping for everyone. Bordeaux also boasts museums, theatres and a thriving culinary scene.

The orchard is one of the joys of life at Chateau de Carsac.  From spring through to autumn there are fruits and nuts: plums, cherries, peaches, apricots, almonds, apples, pears, blackberries and figs.  We invite you to pick whatever is ripe during your stay.

Park and Lakes

Six acres of grounds surround the chateau, containing the orchard, two lakes and several wildflower meadows.  You can picnic, or look out for deer, coypu, waterbirds and uncountable butterflies.  There's space for big family games, and quiet spots to sit and watch the sunset.
